Life is an unfoldment, not accretion. What comes to us in the world without is what we already possess in the world within.

Turmeric Curcumin for treating cyst on back of neck

Recently i had a big cyst (lump) on back of the neck. Made the appointment with dermatologist but it was two weeks wait. In meantime cyst started getting bigger and bigger. I think it was atleast the size of a golf ball. I started looking for home remedies on web. One which several people suggested was to eat “turmeric curcumin” capsules. Turmeric is a spice which is used in many indian dishes. Some good people had suggested that eating tumeric capsules had given them beneficial results in a week or so and insisted that keep having eating the capsules atleast for a week even if you don’t see immediate results.

Well, i didn’t had any other option since dermatologist appointment was still two weeks back. I went to GNC store and bought myself turmeric curcumin capsules. You can buy them at amazon, walmart, etc. also. Initially i observed the pain subsided little bit. But Cyst kept getting little larger and started turning little red too. I decided to keep going with turmeric. In addition to capsules i bought turmeric powder and used in my milk, etc as part of my diet. On sixth cyst came to head. I used warm compress on it and same day it started draining. It was some white liquid with very very foul smell. Anyway it is almost gone now.

Since turmeric helped me with this huge cyst, i thought it would be good to post my experience on the web and pass the information which might be helpful to some reader. I would like to point out that several people have suggested that turmeric happens to be very helpful in treating several other conditions. You can search the web and find more information regarding this. One thing i would like to mention is that turmeric curcumin capsules bottle had a warning that if you are going for some surgery you should stop eating the capsules two weeks before surgery. Also, pregnant women should not take these capsules.

As a Man Thinketh by James Allen

Excellent excellent book. It is available for free download at project Gutenberg website. Here is the link As a Man Thinketh by James Allen.

Here is short extract to entice you in reading this classic self help book:

ALL that a man achieves and all that he fails to achieve is the
direct result of his own thoughts. In a justly ordered universe,
where loss of equipoise would mean total destruction, individual
responsibility must be absolute. A man's weakness and strength,
purity and impurity, are his own, and not another man's; they are
brought about by himself, and not by another; and they can only be
altered by himself, never by another. His condition is also his own,
and not another man's. His suffering and his happiness are evolved
from within. As he thinks, so he is; as he continues to think, so he
remains.

A strong man cannot help a weaker unless that weaker is _willing_ to
be helped, and even then the weak man must become strong of himself;
he must, by his own efforts, develop the strength which he admires
in another. None but himself can alter his condition.

It has been usual for men to think and to say, "Many men are slaves
because one is an oppressor; let us hate the oppressor." Now,
however, there is amongst an increasing few a tendency to reverse
this judgment, and to say, "One man is an oppressor because many are
slaves; let us despise the slaves."

Online File Storage FAQ

what are popular services?

Amazon S3, Mosso, Mozy, Carbonite, IDrive, Backblaze, Dropbox, SugarSync, etc.

Which one should i use?

Depends. Encrypting the files before storage is the key. If you want to backup some sensitive files, it will be wise to privately encrypt the file before storing it online. Some of the backup services allow you to have a custom private key using which your data is encrypted. This key (or password) is known only to you and even company backing up your file can’t see the file without knowing the private key.

What is encryption?

Excerpt from wikipedia:

In cryptography, encryption is the process of transforming information (referred to as plaintext) using an algorithm (called cipher) to make it unreadable to anyone except those possessing special knowledge, usually referred to as a key. The result of the process is encrypted information (in cryptography, referred to as ciphertext).

Here are some good links to get you started: wiki, truecrypt, EncFS

I want to share my data across several computers. Is there any service which works better than other?

I like Dropbox and Sugarsync. These services let you install their product on your desktop and sync files placed in certain folders across all computers. Nice thing is that you can access your files from web browser as well. I have heard some good feedback about dropbox. Only thing i didn’t like is that it won’t let you provide private custom key for encryption.

How about Amazon S3 ?

Amazon S3 is cool. It lets you store data on their cloud storage system at very cheap rate. Downside is that it hasn’t introduced any tool for consumers to upload files (but i think it is in works and should be out soon). So you kind of depend on third party tools to manage your files. There are some good ones out there like JungleDisk but you need to pay for them separately. Dropbox and ElephantDrive also use Amazon S3 behind the scenes.

What would be recommend for storing photos and videos?

I will recommend using services like Flickr and SmugMug for photos and videos. But in case you believe that you just want backup facility i will say go with Amazon S3. BTW, smugmug stores photos and videos on amazon s3 infrastructure.

I would like to know more about Online file storage and Encryption. Can you point to some good links?
